About the role : The Physics Department at the Cavendish Estate encompasses nine buildings and hosts over 1000 staff, students, collaborators, and visitors. As the department transitions to the new Ray Dolby Centre, the Soft Facilities team plays a crucial role in ensuring operational efficiency and maintaining high standards across the estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building Security: Monitor and maintain building security across the Cavendish Estate, ensuring adherence to security protocols and mitigating potential risks.

  • Alarm Systems Management: Manage alarm systems, including responding to alerts, coordinating with relevant parties, and ensuring timely resolution of issues.

  • Access Control: Regulate access to buildings and facilities, acting as a point of contact for staff, visitors, and contractors. Ensure authorized access for personnel while maintaining security standards.

  • Event Preparation: Assist in the preparation and coordination of events across the estate, ensuring facilities are set up according to requirements and supporting event organizers as needed.

  • Customer Service: Serve as a point of contact for staff, visitors, and contractors, providing professional and friendly assistance. Address inquiries and concerns promptly, maintaining a positive and helpful demeanor.

  • FM Contractor Support: Collaborate with FM contractors operating across the estate, providing assistance and support as needed to ensure efficient delivery of services.

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to best practices in housekeeping and health and safety compliance, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in facilities management or a related field preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of security procedures and alarm systems management.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
