Exeter Devon, United Kingdom European Society of Human Genetics Full time

We are looking to recruit an outstanding research-focused scientist working in human genetics and genomics to join the Department of Clinical & Biomedical Sciences (CBS) at the University of Exeter Medical School. This is a key strategic position for the Department and the successful applicant will join a vibrant research environment with cutting-edge facilities for human genomics research. The ideal candidate will have an outstanding track record of research and vision in human genomics, and a commitment to extending its impact on health. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with an interest in characterizing the functional consequences of disease-associated genetic variation.

The successful applicant will play a leading role in building capacity in human genomics research and education in Exeter. In partnership with Exeter’s new NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), which is one of only four in the UK with a specific ‘genetics and genomics’ theme, the role holder will be in an unrivalled position to rapidly translate research findings into improved patient care and treatment. Research in CBS is focused on understanding the mechanisms and treatment of human disease and has an exceptional record in human genomics research. They will join a vibrant community of scientists and clinicians with expertise in genetic epidemiology, epigenetics, data science, and cell biology working on a range of human diseases including mental illness, dementia, diabetes, obesity, respiratory disease and cancer.
