We are seeking to recruitGraduate Structural Design Engineer for our client based inDarlington.

Our client has a long-distinguished history in theconstruction of landmark structures around the world, particularlyiconic bridges and buildings.

The organisations principal focusnow is the design, manufacture and operation of specialist equipmentand temporary works for the construction of bridges, buildings,offshore structures, refineries, power stations and industrial plants.They have particular expertise in the erection of long span suspensionand cable stayed bridges and in the engineering for specialist modularconstruction including heavy lifting and skidding operations.

You will be working within a team of engineers and CADtechnicians, carrying out conceptual and detailed design of permanentand temporary structures and equipment, particularly related toconstruction engineering of bridges, tower systems and complexstructures.

The Role

  • Conceptual anddetailed design of permanent and temporary structures, particularly insteel.
  • Conceptual and detaileddesign of specialist equipment, particularly related to heavy liftingand moving projects.
  • Preparation of detailed calculationsusing computer program Excel (preferred) or by hand.
  • Staticanalyses of structures using structural analysis (FEA) computerprograms.
  • Liaison with CAD team.
  • Preparation ofsketches and drawings using computer program AutoCAD or by hand.
  • Development of standard spreadsheet solutions suitable foruse with Excel.

The Person

  • Graduate or Studying Structural Engineer (expecting tograduate within the next few months)
  • Experience in the use ofcomputer drafting programs (AutoCAD)
  • Experience in the use offinite element analysis computer programs
  • Goodpresentation and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes,particularly EN 1993
  • Master’s Degree or due to be completed within thisacademic year
  • Experience in analysis and design ofstructures, particularly in steel
  • Experience in design oftemporary works, particularly related to heavy lifting and movingprojects
