A unique opportunity in Physiological Sciences has arisen for a suitably qualified Healthcare Scientist. You must have relevant and significant experience with Quality and Leadership to support the physiological scientific disciplines at GOSH.You will lead the drive for service accreditation with the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) following the Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) standards. The Quality Lead in Physiological Sciences at GOSH will be expected to work with, and enable, the following services to maintain or obtain IQIPS accreditation; audiology, cardiac physiology, neurophysiology, ophthalmic and vision science, respiratory and sleep physiology, clinical perfusion and vascular science.
You will require significant experience/knowledge of Quality Management Systems (preferably Qpulse), IQIPS standards and the Physiological Services accreditation process. Take the lead in the maintenance of accreditation including ensuring timely responses to resolving non-compliances and implementing recommendations of internal or external audits
Ensure Gap Analyses are carried out for services with respect to the new 2023 v2.Ensure systems are in place for compliance with good working practices in accordance with the standards of UKAS accreditation and other regulatory/statutory requirements
Ensure that all the physiological science services have Quality Management Systems that will achieve and maintain UKAS/IQIPS accreditation/compliance where required
Chairing the Physiological Sciences Risk Action Group (PS-RAG) meetings
Maintain the IQIPS risk register with support of the service manager and service leads
Updates the Trust Compliance register with regard Physiological Science services
Provide specialist advice and recommendation to the Trust Compliance Manager
Represent Physiological Science services on the Major Incident Planning Group Meeting and provide expert advice and recommendation
Lead and assist Physiological Science staff in developing and implementing Quality Improvement Transformation projects
Lead on current and future requirements for remote electronic temperature monitoring systems for a wide range of specialist Physiological Science Services equipment i.e. incubators, fridges and freezers.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
MSc in appropriate speciality or equivalent post graduate qualification
Member of the Chartered Quality Institute
Extensive experience / knowledge of Quality and education processes at a senior level
Full in depth understanding of the principles and practice of Quality assurance and Risk Management and its systems
Experience of external Clinical Physiological Science Services and/or laboratory accreditation and regulatory processes i.e. Specialised knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards i.e. Experience in Communication/Liaison strategy development i.e. ability to design, analyse and follow up on user satisfaction surveys
Experience and knowledge of change management and transformation
Experience of service continuity planning
Experience of training
Evidence of professional and personal development
Budgetary and procurement experience at a senior level including business case preparation
Able to interpret complex information i.e. validation/verification data for analytical tests and equipment
A positive and pro-active attitude towards service demands and problem solving with a flexible, open and collaborative style when dealing with complex situations.
Advanced IT skills in compilation of analysis and reports
Advanced Training skills
