 About the R&Q Team

The Risk: Risk & Quality (R&Q) team is a group of Risk Management professionals. Our aim is to be extraordinary and pioneering in what and how we deliver for the business. This role falls within the core R&Q team, working strategically, hand in hand with Business Unit leadership, engagement leaders and teams helping them navigate the numerous and often unexpected challenges that developing and delivering exceptional client service brings. You will be joining a high performing risk management R&Q team with a wealth of experience and have the chance to work flexibly from any of the core Risk offices across the UK.

About Risk

“Risk is all around us and, in our complex world, changing all the time. Organisations must understand and manage risk if they are to be resilient to survive - and take risk, with eyes wide open, if they are to thrive and grow. We work together with our clients to find new ways to secure value. At the heart of our business are diverse teams that bring the right ambition, skills and technology to solve problems together.” Sam Samaratunga, UK and Global Risk Leader

The role will also contribute to key Risk and firmwide change projects as required.

The successful individual will have the opportunity to develop beneficial relationships across the firm including XLoS, while gaining an invaluable insight into our Risk strategy. You will be provided with coaching to allow you the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in the field of Risk & Quality management and gain valuable transferable skills including leadership, influencing, negotiation and analytical skills.

Key activities within the role include;

    • Providing support to the business through our query advisory service, advising client facing teams in the moments that matter with regard to Risk & Quality issues, as and when they require assistance and guidance.

    • Responsibility for upskilling and knowledge sharing with your aligned business unit on risk matters such as key changes to process and policy and achieving this via various communication channels including group meeting attendance, email and video messages.

  • Managing risk related to Innovation, new products and services

    • The Risk business is continually innovating and this role plays a key part in this development. The role includes exciting opportunities to assess the risks of new client and engagement opportunities, advising on approaches to risk mitigation and on the structure of the engagements.

    • Active involvement in advising teams on the risks related to proposed work at Bid Reviews and at client and engagement acceptance panels.

    • Opportunities to advise teams on the risks associated with their use of technology and provide support for teams who are proposing to launch new services.

Transformation / projects

    • Leadership and contribution to Risk R&Q change projects on a wide range of Risk & Quality related topics.

    • Contribution to and influencing the development and revision of Risk policies and methodology, working with teams to successfully implement those changes.

    • Responsibility for taking on the rewarding task of assisting in the identification of the R&Q training needs of the Risk population and contributing to the design and delivery of key Risk and Quality training for partners and staff.

    • Working as part of a team assessing our own Risk & Quality management processes and controls existing across Risk.  For example, in respect of client and engagement acceptance, delivery and documentation and review and consultation.

The essentials

  • An ability to develop and maintain strong relationships built on trust within the business and XLOS risk community.

  • The ability to analyse complex issues, use multiple sources of information to develop solutions and provide pragmatic recommendations.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to drive, manage and deliver multiple tasks and projects, even when under pressure, and be open to working in a changing environment.

  • The potential to analyse and assess information, including contracts, regulatory and legislative materials, to be able to give accurate and practical advice.

  • Desire to develop technical skills and be prepared to seek out knowledge on risk and compliance issues.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and with self-confidence to all levels of staff, including at the most senior levels.

  • Effective oral and written communication with the ability to provide well-reasoned and self-assured responses, even when challenged.

  • An ability to take the initiative but keep others informed of progress and escalating issues where appropriate.

  • Strong reporting skills, with an ability to develop templates and review draft reports, along with strong change management skills including behavioural and cultural change.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience from working in client facing teams across the firm, or within the firm's Risk & Quality community, is desired but not essential. You will receive thorough coaching and the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in the field of Risk & Quality management.

  • Experience and/or knowledge in relation to technology or technology products, digital offerings, emerging technology or tech alliances is also a particular skill set that this time would be preferred but is not essential.  This is an area of growth and focus across all of Risk and skills that we are seeking to develop further in our team.
