Refuge Caseworker

Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a full-time Refuge Caseworker, in this position you would work 37 hours a week on a salary of £13.37 per hour on a temporary contract. You will be based in Stockport and due to the nature of the position you will be expected to travel to various locations across the borough. As a caseworker, you will be based in refuge and responsible for providing high quality practical and emotional support to ensure individuals who have experienced domestic abuse have the foundations to live free from fear. Due to the nature of our work, this post is restricted to women applicants only under Schedule 9 (Part 1) of the Equality Act 2010. Main duties and responsibilities
- To enable individuals and families who require temporary refuge accommodation to stay safe, develop and maintain positive relationships that promote their wellbeing, and prevent, reduce or delay their need to access statutory services.
- Focus upon the delivery of outcomes for families and individuals in the Stockport refuge and dispersed accommodation.
- Work innovatively and, where necessary, assertively with individuals to help them achieve agreed outcomes, building upon their existing strengths and support networks.
- To facilitate a support plan that is SMART in application and act as a lead professional to co-ordinate interventions where required. Maintaining and updating records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Deliver and motivate individuals to act upon general advice and navigation towards community-based support services.
- To identify and manage risk issues and carry out relevant risk assessments, such as MARAC, in order to safeguard individuals and their children.
- Abide by Health and Safety regulations and take responsibility for own safety and that of individuals, colleagues and visitors.
- Good level of general education.
- Confident standard of literacy, numeracy and IT competency.
- Strong case management skills and ability to prioritise own workload
- Up to date knowledge of a range of services and benefits / entitlements / opportunities to enable individuals to make positive changes.
- A sound knowledge of assessment processes.
- A knowledge and understanding of issues relating to domestic abuse.
- Ability to communicate positively and assertively with people at all levels, building motivational working relationships with people.
