This is a new fixed-term Occupational Therapy Senior Practitioner post created to co-design and deliver training for a county wide Integrated Therapies project, supported by project manager, and line managed by the Principal Occupational Therapist.The post is suitable for an experienced occupational therapist, or established occupational therapy senior practitioner wishing to gain experience of service improvement projects, quality assurance of practice, and leadership. It will also give opportunity to develop of knowledge and skills to supervise social care OT`s.You will work alongside senior therapy colleagues across all six provider organisations within our Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System. You will design basic generic occupational therapy informed training, with rehabilitation, reablement and enablement at its core, and deliver this to health and social care colleagues, promoting prevention, independence and wellbeing.You will need to have some knowledge or experience of the structures and hierarchy within the Acute NHS trust and Community Health services, and a good understanding of Nottinghamshire Adult Social Care strategy be able to explain this to other agencies.This development role involves communicating both occupational therapy and social care values to the wider multi-disciplinary team, including: strengths-based support planning, increasing peoples choice and control through risk enablement, early interventions and short-term rehabilitation, and promoting a therapy-led approach, including how to optimise peoples care and support outcomes through specialist interventions, such as reablement, enablement, assistive technology, equipment, adaptations, and moving and handling.You will be able to communicate at an excellent level with health and social care professionals, as well as the voluntary sector, using a variety of methods, and be able to challenge other professional`s reasoning, in a positive and appropriate way. You will have an excellent understanding of the relationship between mental capacity, positive risk enablement and choice. You will have a good understanding of the Care Act legislation and Mental Capacity Act and be able to explain this to other agencies.Nottinghamshire County Council operates a flexible working policy; applications are welcomed for other working patterns, such as part time and job share. The post is subject to 7 day working, if required in the future. You could base themselves at any NCC office, to suit their circumstances, but they would need to be able to travel for some face-to-face meetings or events.IND3
