Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Geologist to help with sample analysis and reporting within our busy Geology and Geomaterials department.

The Role

Sandberg’s Geomaterials department comprises an enthusiastic team of Geologists and Materials Scientists whose principal work is in the analysis and failure investigation of construction materials of various types including concrete and natural stone.

The position requires an individual prepared to undertake a variety of different and varied tasks including:

  • routine laboratory work
  • examination of specimens under petrological and electron microscopes
  • assist with report preparation
  • working in accordance with UKAS accreditation

This is a junior position suitable for a recent graduate.Support and training will be provided by Geologist and Senior Geologists within the department.There is potential for the successful applicant to progress within the Firm to a more senior role.

This is a full-time permanent position based in our laboratories in Clapham, London.

The Person

Applicants should have a Geology degree and ideally an interest in the petrology and analysis of construction materials.It is not required that a candidate has particular experience outside of their degree, though additional experience will be considered when agreeing compensation.Specific training in specialist areas will be given as appropriate.

All candidates should be able to work legally in the UK full time, it will not be possible to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
