Our client, based in Northamptonshire, is currently recruiting for a Principal Planning Lawyer on a six-month temporary contract. The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, with the hourly rate being negotiable dependent upon experience. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a Local Government setting and must be able to attend one evening Planning Committee meeting per month. Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing planning and highways advice to internal clients and Councillors
  • Reviewing planning reports before they go to Planning Committee
  • Attending Planning Committee on a once-a-month basis, as well as attending their Chair’s briefing
  • Providing legal advice on all matters relating to highways
  • Assisting the Council with any planning inquiries
  • Drafting instructions to Counsel as and when required
Experience required: • Experience required of working in a similar role in a Local Government environment Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
  • Planning Law
  • Highways expertise
