Consultant Obstetrician

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bedder and is the main referral hospital for the CQ Hospital and Health Service.
The O&G department provides maternity care services for approx. This is done via a mixture of Shared Care, Continuity Midwife teams and multidisciplinary High-Risk Clinics. The Maternity Unit is supported by a level four (≥32 weeks) special care nursery.The department also provides level five laparoscopic and major gynaecological surgical services. There are 12-14 scheduled operating theatre lists per fortnight. There are daily general gynaecology and antenatal clinics, plus uro-gynaecology and colposcopy services, as well as a community-based Aboriginal Australian antenatal clinic service. The particular opportunity can assist for interest in improving skills in obstetric ultrasound.

You will help with the teaching and supervision of trainees, other medical colleagues, students and all other relevant stakeholders and nursing staff.
You will help to manage and develop O&G services by working to continually improve patient safety, clinical governance, audits, service planning etc.
Although based in Rockhampton you will also ensure care is also provided at other facilities when required and in line with the clinical services available.
Expert clinical skills in obstetrics and gynaecology.
Demonstrated commitment and experience in improving quality, patient safety and reducing risk.
Well developed leadership skills with an ability to confidently represent the department, hospital and health service.
Willing to participate in teaching and supervision.
Evidence of vaccination against Covid-19, MMR, Varicella, Pertussis, Hep B.
Driving licence.
