About the Role

The position of Finance Manager is responsible for leading & managing the finance department and will work with the MD to act as the chief financial spokesperson for the company. The Finance Manager will work on strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget and expense management, cost benefit analysis, compliance, forecasting needs and cash-flow. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

Strategic Requirements

  • Contribute toward the company strategic plan development and implementation providing feedback to the functional heads and leading the finance function.
  • Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the company and associated entities.
  • Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the company and associated entities including: company revenue/expense and balance sheet reports and monitoring of company and contracts & budgets for the indirect markets. 
  • Review and implement financial best practice for the company and associated entities.
  • Advise the MD on making recommendations to improve financial performance, systems & internal controls.

General Requirements

  • Oversee the production of commercially astute management information and analysis to support the business.
  • Lead, manage & monitor the finance team with regards to their performance, skill development and functional ability.
  • Document when necessary and disseminate transactional general ledger allocation requirements and provide feedback to relevant team members.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of ledgers and accounts as required.
  • Review the preparation of audit friendly financial records.
  • Overseeing the collection, compilation and uploading of departmental budgets into general ledger with relevant departmental stakeholders, including maintaining explanatory memorandums as required.
  • Working capital management.
  • Oversee credit facility with KitchenAid ANZ suppliers & lending authorities.
  • Oversee purchasing and sales activity to ensure debtors and creditor terms are within targets.
  • Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance requirements are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with the relevant required party schedules and timeframes.
  • Investigate cost-effective benefit plans and other fringe benefits which the company may offer employees and potential employees together with HR with the goal of attracting and retaining qualified individuals.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and timely calculations of incentives and commissions for staff.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place for at risk accounts.
  • Oversee relevant business insurance plans.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased with company funds (computers, etc.) ensuring all are in accordance with company & relevant regulations.

Reporting

  • Preparation, review and distribution of monthly management reports including significant budget cost variances to key stakeholders as requested.
  • Oversee the production of monthly reports including reconciliations. 
  • Oversee the timely period end closing of general ledgers as required.
  • Overseeing the timely provision of reports, information and data to accountants, auditors and other agreed service providers.
  • Establish, measure and report on departmental KPI results to target
  • Analysis and reporting on identified competitors 
  • Oversee regional weekly sales report from GBQ
  • Oversee regional financial update in monthly outlook file after finalization of result

Other

  • Management and monitoring of the finance team’s KPI’s
  • Assist in monitoring, managing and performing as required all tasks necessary to achieve the company’s goals.
  • Direct all internal accounting programs, including cost accounting, systems and procedures, data processing, acquisitions analysis, and financial planning
  • Management of ad hoc requests from corporate / KitchenAid ANZ region for any information

Selection Criteria : 

Essential

  • Previous experience as Financial Controller or Senior Finance Officer of a medium to large company or a combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
  • University level accounting qualification (CPA) or equivalent
  • Strong commercial experience & acumen
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Curious mind, eye for detail and good investigative skills
  • Diligent and resilient personality
  • Previous experience in strategic planning
  • Advanced ability to communicate in both written and verbal form.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with the use of financial and reporting IT platforms & ERP systems (SAP)
  • Eye for detail

Desirable: 

  • Experience in the implementation of ERP systems / Legal entities / NSO
  • Experience in company re-structuring
  • Working familiarity in the use of the balanced scorecard KPI process
