Head of Underwriting Operations

Arthur is exclusively collaborating with a top-tier International Insurer to recruit a Head of Underwriting Operations.

In this position, you'll report directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer, overseeing all business underwriting activities, including pricing and performance. You'll also play a key role in designing and producing internal underwriting performance reports and regulatory returns. Your responsibilities will include implementing and monitoring the underwriting controls framework and offering support for underwriting operations. Day to day you will:

  • Serve as a primary liaison to manage relations with Lloyd’s Performance and oversight teams.
  • Take ownership of key underwriting controls, documentation, monitoring and reporting to internal stakeholders and external regulators.
  • Report underwriting performance and control activities to the Head of UMT and internal Board Committees.
  • Manage the annual business planning process and quarterly DRM process with the Underwriting Performance Manager.
  • Prepare, sign-off and submit all Lloyd‘s and PRA Underwriting regulatory reports, collaborating with the Underwriting MI Team and Underwriting Performance Manager.
  • Support underwriting department heads in delivering and implementing pricing policy and procedures, working closely with the Head of Pricing and Analytics.
  • Support the Head of UMT and Underwriting Heads with ad-hoc projects and tasks.
To be considered you must possess significant Lloyd’s or London Market underwriting experience along with a solid understanding of designing and implementing efficient underwriting controls and adhering to Lloyd’s Oversight Principles.
