Location: Hybrid - Office and Home

Role:

We are looking for an experienced Property Underwriter to join our longest-established product line, a niche underwriting facility targeting waste & recycling risks based in the UK, Australia, and the US. We have a long and successful history of writing waste & recycling business with exceptional standards. Our market-leading reputation has allowed us to form long-established partnerships in this specialist market.

Responsibilities:

  • To underwrite Waste and Recycling business within the appropriate guidelines and within allocated authority while conforming to best practices and focusing on efficiency in approach.
  • Maintain and develop Rokstone underwriting relationships to achieve the team's strategic and financial objectives.
  • Develop and maintain broker and client professional networks to support profitable business origination.
  • Raise, maintain, and enhance the profile of Rokstone Underwriting within the marketplace.
  • Build and develop a network of brokers to identify and originate new business opportunities across all lines of business offered to Rokstone.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience underwriting various Technical Property risks on Lloyd's or Company paper
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to articulate and recommend solutions to business issues with insight gained from data.
  • Good experience and understanding of the Property- Heavy Industrial Risks (This would be an ideal attribute but is not a prerequisite for the role).
  • A sharp intellect and a strong willingness to learn and acquire the skills necessary to underwrite Property products.
  • Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

Role Objectives:

  • Appreciation of the structure of our capacity and the parameters of the respective binder Agreements
  • A strong instinct for detailed risk analysis
  • Comprehension of the critical features of pricing
  • We are developing overall market awareness and the ability to create strong relationships with brokers and producers.
  • Developing solid commercial skills in negotiating sometimes complex transactions focusing on capacity deployment and achieving an optimum outcome – "deal-making."
  • Managing broker expectations
  • Appreciation of the importance of manoeuvring the portfolio through shifting market cycles
