Care Forum Wales is looking to recruit two or three people on a full or part-time basis to take on Policy Advisor roles. 

Who we are : Care Forum Wales is the representative organisation for registered care providers in Wales. We have around 450 members who provide care homes and / or domiciliary care provision. We were established in 1993 to give health and social care providers a collective voice in the debate about how to provide the best outcomes for those who need social care. We share good practice amongst members and work closely with the Welsh Government, local authority and health board commissioners and regulators to shape policies. And we work to raise the profile of the social care workforce – organising the prestigious annual Wales Care Awards.

Policy Advisor : You will represent members and communicate their issues at a local, regional and national level. You will develop policy asks and strategies to bring about their implementation. You will work with members to understand their needs, give advice and ensure they are aware of developments in the policy landscape that may affect them. You will work flexibly as part of a team. You will encourage providers to join and maintain membership of Care Forum Wales.

You will be primarily based at home but expected to travel across Wales as appropriate to meet he demands of the role.

Person specification

  • Understanding of the way public sector bodies in Wales work and how they make decisions and an ability to influence those decisions
  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders from care provider members in a variety of organisational structures to policy makers
  • Demonstrable communication skills in writing and verbally and an understanding of different communications means (including social media) to reach different audiences
  • Understanding of and ability to use spreadsheets 
  • Self starter able to prioritise own workload and manage competing demands on your time
  • Experience of working with the media
  • Experience responding to Government consultations / dealing with Senedd Committees
  • Experience of conducting research 
  • Understanding of the care sector
  • Understanding of appropriate governance for a membership organisation
