Amuzo is looking to create its own multiplayer solution for both server and client authoritative titles on mobile, PC and console platforms. We are looking for a Network Programmer to join our Engine and Technology team. With at least 3 years’ industry experience and having published multiplayer titles using their technology.
About us
Amuzo has been creating games for over 20 years, working with global brands like LEGO, Star Wars, Marvel, PlayStation and Netflix. Based in Bournemouth, we have five miles of golden sands near the studio. If that doesn’t tempt you we offer a range of hybrid and remote working options.
Responsibilities
- Be able to write and develop maintainable multiplayer server solutions, the language is negotiable with reasoning.
- Understanding of low level networking (NAT, UDP, TCP/IP, Sockets).
- Excellent familiarity with C# code, being the language our game developers use.
- Advise on suggested architectures for individual titles based on requirements and number of players.
- Continually research new tools, techniques and processes as the industry progresses to keep us up-to-date on the latest technologies.
- Be familiar with the concept of a ‘headless’ Unity instance for when server authoritative is the best solution.
- Be familiar with networking concepts; multi-threaded coding, matchmaking, server hosting and load balancing.
- Be prepared to work with 3rd party hosting, instancing and load balancing providers.
- Respond to feature requests and bug reports from game development staff.
- Be able to work to agreed deadlines and work well under pressure and on multiple projects at once.
- Knowledge and interest in networking, online gaming and the use of 3rd party multiplayer APIs.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with current and next generation console compliance requirements.
Location
- Based in Bournemouth, Dorset, UK with hybrid/remote working options.
Salary
- Dependent on skills, qualifications and experience.
Other Benefits
- Company pension
- 22 days holiday per annum, increasing to 28 days based on duration of employment.
- Flexible working hours.
Start Date
- As soon as possible.
