As a Development Chef, you will play a crucial role in creating commercially viable, creative, and innovative sushi products that drive growth and keep us ahead of our competitors. Work with and learn from a very Experienced Japanese Chef (Previously Executive head chef of Michelin star restaurant)
Working office hours
Review product quality against our standards to ensure we consistently maintain our high standards, especially from a rice quality and sauce tasting perspective.
Stay updated on food trends, track restaurant reviews, and forecast emerging trends, attend food exhibitions, shows, and seminars to discover interesting ingredients and trends. Then share inspiration and findings from these visits and analysis with Executive Head Chef and internal stakeholders.
Support the Executive Head Chef with proactive and creative development of product profiles whilst introducing new meals/ ingredients.
Work with Executive Head chef and commercial to refine the concepts and recipe’s.
Learn to use all machines in the factory to understand our capabilities and how this may affect future product development. Bring new food development and production methods ideas to the team which will lead to improvements
Develop/learn how to balance flavours of Japanese sauce making
Understand customer policies and our brand standards.
Monitor production to ensure consistent quality standards of our products
Take a brief from a customer or via commercial and produce innovative products which set us apart from competition
Fully qualified chef with at least 5 years experience as a Restaurant Chef in a Japanese restaurant with strong exposure to Sushi.
Strong computer literacy with experience working with all Microsoft office products
Strong communication skills with daily interaction with Commercial, Procurement, Technical and NPD team
Willingness to travel for work inside and outside of the UK.
