SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Secondary School, Lewisham Start Date: Immediate Start Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (Until the end of the academic year) Salary: Dependent on experience We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Lewisham. This is a full-time, long-term role that will run until the end of the academic year, providing invaluable support to our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support and guidance to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to implement personalised learning plans and differentiated resources. Assist in the planning and delivery of individual or small group interventions to target specific needs, such as literacy, numeracy, or social skills development. Monitor and record student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents as needed. Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students' well-being is always prioritised. Support students with physical, emotional, or behavioural needs in line with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and the school's SEND policy. Liaise with other professionals such as SENCOs, educational psychologists, and external agencies to provide holistic support to students. Requirements: Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting. Experience with SEND is essential, with the ability to adapt your approach to meet the unique needs of each learner. A current DBS certificate on the update service is mandatory. Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
