JOB PURPOSEBe a vital part of our team as our Raw Material Developer, Leather. Collaborate with Design and Sourcing to manage raw material development and supply within design briefs and budget guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Foster close collaboration with Design: Act as technical partner, attending raw material meetings, providing feedback, and brainstorming solutions.
- Cultivate vendor relationships: Develop strong understanding of vendor capabilities and availability to meet demands effectively.
- Research and develop new raw material concepts and technologies according to brief.
- Oversee samples and colourways, collaborating with mills to ensure correct execution of designs/materials.
- Establish and implement raw material development critical path in coordination with Product Development and Design teams, adhering to deadlines and addressing development issues promptly.
- Manage raw material orders: Ensure timely delivery, quality standards, and cost efficiency to achieve target margins.
- Ensure product functionality and suitability: Conduct ongoing risk assessments during development process and proactively address any issues.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain teams for product testing and standards compliance, negotiating aesthetic changes while protecting design vision.
- Possess strong technical expertise in leather goods construction, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Understand testing parameters, quality standards, and chemical finishing fundamentals.
- Skilled in managing vendor relationships, delivering clear briefs, and meeting demands.
- Ensure on-time collection delivery through effective critical path management.
- Manage budgets with commercial awareness, balancing creativity and cost considerations.
- Demonstrate deep fashion knowledge and excellent communication skills, with proficiency in PLM, Excel, and InDesign.
