Job Description

As follows.

Strategic Communication Planning:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and strategic communication plan aligned with organisational goals, objectives and initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure communication strategies, key messages and communications themes effectively convey the organisation's mission and values and business plan

Content and Brand Management:
  • Develop and maintain brand identity, ensuring consistency in messaging and visual elements
  • Monitor and assess perception of the brand, manage its future direction and development, and implement strategies as needed
  • Create engaging and informative content for various internal channels, including newsletters, intranet, emails, and announcements
  • Manage the content calendar, ensuring timely and relevant delivery of information.
  • Oversee the organisation's digital presence, including intranet and website content, social media platforms, and other online channels
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to promote brand awareness and engage with the target audience
  • Oversee the internal communication channels, ensuring consistency and effectiveness
  • Explore and implement innovative communication tools and platforms

Collaboration with internal Stakeholders:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of communication efforts
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders

Employee Engagement:
  • Design and execute initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Foster a positive organisational culture through effective communication channels and campaigns
  • Oversee the implementation of all internal communications and ExCom/Senior Leadership team messaging e.g., video, blogs and physical/hybrid Town Halls, etc.

Change and Crisis Management Communication:
  • Support communication efforts during organisational change initiatives
  • Develop messaging and materials to facilitate understanding and acceptance of changes among employees
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address potential issues and manage communication during crises. Lead on and coordinate both internal and external communications in incident response

Leadership Communication Support:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to craft and deliver effective internal messages
  • Provide coaching and support to leaders for effective communication with their teams
  • Support in the delivery of media and presentation training for key individuals

Media Relations and external Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with media partners and Shareholders' communications teams, ensuring consistency of messaging
  • Support with the creation and successful delivery of the media engagement for the Morecambe Net Zero CCUS project
  • Draft press releases and other communication materials
  • Develop and manage opportunities for senior leaders to build their profile externally
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with external stakeholders, including industry associations and community groups
  • Represent the organisation at external events and conferences to enhance its visibility and credibility

Event Management:
  • Plan and execute internal events, town halls, and meetings
  • Coordinate logistics, develop content, and ensure seamless execution

Measurement and Analysis:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts
  • Analyse data and feedback to continuously improve communication strategies

Team and Budget Management:
  • Manage and lead the Communications team to ensure smooth delivery of the communication strategy
  • Develop and manage the communication budget, ensuring optimal utilisation of in-house and agency resources
  • Manage relationships and facilitate service level agreements for all strategic alliances with communications/stakeholder-related agencies. Manage and have budgetary control of in-house resources and retained/ project-led agency relationships
  • Provide regular reports and analysis of communication efforts and their impact

The Successful Applicant

Applicants should have the following.

  • Expert in media, issues management, employee communications, branding, events and CSR
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to engage and quickly establish trust and respect with individuals at all levels
  • Able to produce simple and creative communication content
  • Strong project management and organisational abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent senior-level stakeholder management and influencing skills, to support internal stakeholders
  • Experience of leading internal communications campaigns to enact change and generate action across an organisation
  • Capable of providing professional development in line with individual aspirations, career plans, offering meaningful support and feedback to direct reports
  • Self-starter with the initiative to drive projects forward and who thrives on challenging and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organised and results oriented with strong business acumen
  • Proven success leading communications strategies, ideally in the oil and gas industry, including the management of strong relationships with local media as well as experience across all channels
  • Evidence of successfully leading communications and external affairs on complex cross-functional projects and change programs
  • Experience in driving agency relationships
  • Demonstrable expertise in full spectrum of internal communications tools, platforms and channels, traditional and digital
  • Considerable event management experience
