Role: Control Systems Engineer

I am seeking a senior Control Systems Engineer to join my clients team, my client specialises in the restoration of iconic cars turning them into EVs. We are looking for someone who will be a key cog in the development and implementation of control systems for LV & HV.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop model-based software using Simulink.
  • Implement and optimize testing frameworks, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Model-in-the-Loop (MIL).
  • Utilize first principles to address and resolve engineering challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate control systems into electric powertrains and automotive chassis.
  • Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting to ensure control systems meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Translate complex engineering issues into straightforward, effective solutions.

Skills:

  • Experience in ECU calibration for automotive applications.
  • Proficiency with CAN Bus tools such as Vector CANalyzer for system interrogation and stimulation.
  • Expertise in developing and correlating plant models with real-world components for HIL and MIL testing.
  • Strong grasp of control theory.
  • Preferable experience in using oscilloscopes for troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with software version control and comprehensive documentation practices.
  • Understanding of control hardware, CAN topology, and wiring systems.
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage systems and architectures is advantageous.
  • Ability to devise simple, practical solutions without overcomplicating problems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive sector.
  • Proven experience in the development and testing of control systems for electric vehicles.
  • Authorization to work in the UK.
