We are looking for a Transport Assistant Manager to assist the Transport Manager in the delivery of smooth and efficient running of the operational tasks.

You will assist the transport manager in the daily operation and performance of the transport department in accordance with legal compliance whilst achieving the best possible level of service to internal and external customers.

Salary: 32,700

Location: Paignton, Devon

Hours: 40 Hours across 6 days

Role Essentials

  • Oversee pre shift checks with your driver team, to coach drivers to adopt best practice in ensuring all deliveries are accurate, and relevant compliancy checks are completed.
  • Ensure the delivery of orders adhere to all food safety standards.
  • Support preparation of audits and communicating outcomes/areas of improvement to the team.
  • Assist the Transport Manager in recruitment and induction processes
  • Carry out regular driver reviews both on and off the road.
  • Deputise on behalf of Transport manager as and when required and undertaken additional duties if necessary.
  • To maintain all documentation relating to tachographs and driver hours.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained to company standards and all damages are recorded and stored according to damage procedures.
  • Organise and maintain planned vehicle inspections / servicing / MOT’s are carried out to the company audit standards operational manual.

Who we’re looking for

  • Minimum Category C1 driving qualification (Essential)
  • CPC training and minimum number of hours completed in current 5 year reference (Essential)
  • Experience within a demanding fast paced transport team (Essential)
  • Experience of working within a team to provide high level customer service (Essential)
