Renewable Natural Gas, RNG, is a key technology in the transition to net zero. With development offices across Europe, VTTI has a pipeline of projects that will lead to a further investment in excess of $500m as it continues to build its portfolio of RNG assets.

Position

Maintenance Engineering Lead M/F/X

Glentham, Lincolnshire

As the Glentham Engineering Lead you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of our the Glentham Green Energy (GGE) RNG plant in Lincolnshire, commissioning this summer. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will have safety, engineering and operations responsibility for the GGE site where you will be based. As we expand and construct more sites you may occasionally need to support other sites (travel and expenses paid).

This is VTTI’s first RNG plant in the UK and the first as part of an ambitious desire to build a portfolio of RNG plants. Someone from an engineering background and with lead, first line management or supervisory experience in a highly regulated industry is required. Some operations experience would also be an advantage. The successful candidate will also be capable of self-starting, using their initiative and being hands on. The role will be the first line engineering support for the site, planning and carrying out day to day reactive and proactive maintenance activities, managing specialist maintenance contractors as well as planning larger outages, both planned and reactive. There will also be the requirement to provide call out cover to respond to breakdowns and ensure the production impact is minimised.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Responsible for the maintenance of Glentham Green Energy (GGE) RNG site
  • Responsible for plant operations through SCADA system and instructing Operators
  • Role model safety behaviors, Coach and develop the local site operations team
  • Be on call and respond to out of hours shutdowns on a rotation
  • Manage holidays and plant operations cover
  • Comply with all relevant legislation, Create and maintain a culture of compliance, excellence and efficiency at GGE and other sites
  • Working with peers across the UK and Europe to share best practices, Managing relationships with key maintenance service providers
  • Manage sub-contractors who provide some asset management support
  • Manage on-site staff, supporting, empowering, inspiring and challenging them to perform at their best
  • Ensuring GGE is performing to and exceeding the business case
  • Leading the planning and preparation for major overhauls and maintenance events
  • Supporting the development and project teams providing operational input into the design and build process

What we’re looking for

An experienced leader with lead, first line management or supervisory experience from an engineering or operational role in a highly regulated industry. You have strong engineering background, preferably multi-skilled.

  • Competent plant operator and experience of SCADA systems
  • Demonstratable experience of working in a highly regulated industry, prioritizing safety, environmental and compliant behaviour and culture
  • Proactive approach to safety and compliance, ensuring that good safety management improves operational performance
  • Proven skills in managing and motivating others
  • Able to work independently, taking pride and ownership of the site
  • Able to work collaboratively with the development and project teams to ensure a smooth transition from construction into operation
  • Able to work collaboratively with the broader RNG management team, sharing best practice and willing to take on as well as share ideas and practices
