• Adherence to safety procedures and participation in safety initiatives.

• Designing, developing, testing, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining MES solutions according to applications according to functional and technical specifications whilst applying set standards and processes.

• Managing the operation of MES Systems in his/her allocated area of responsibility with the aim of ensuring maximum service levels to the related production units and other departments.

• Obtain knowledge of plant processes and/or business processes in allocated area of responsibilities.

• Participates in forums or working groups as required by corporate or departmental focus.

• Applies corporate and departmental standards, policies (testing, validation, change control, disaster recovery and incident/problem management) and rules in the choice of tools and methods during MES Systems software development.

• Strives to deliver high quality, fit-for-purpose, reusable and maintainable software within the allocated time and with a minimum of rework.

• Maintaining a detailed understanding and self-education in terms of current best practices, trends and events in the software development industry.

• Obtain detail knowledge of plant processes in his/her allocated area of responsibility.

• Callout service including scheduled 24/7 standby as part of the team.

• Change and Incident Resolution and Management.

• Attending applicable Information management, project related and other meetings as and when required

• Creating documentation such as Design Documentation, Training manuals, Functional and technical specifications.

• Troubleshooting, monitoring and status reporting.

Qualification :

  • National Diploma (NQF 6/10) in Computer Science / Information Technology, Information Science
Experience and Requirements:

· Minimum 18 months experience in most of the following software technologies/skills:

  • NET development (VB.NET, ASP.NET, or .NET CORE)
  • Visual Studio
  • Web development (HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Entity framework, Blazor)
  • Maintain database objects via Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and/or SQL Developer
  • Developing within a Microsoft SQL database (T/SQL)
  • Developing within an Oracle database (PL/SQL)
  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Business Objects
  • GIT Repository management
  • Unix and the Windows family of operating systems

Experience in the following:

  • Business Analysis
  • System / Solutions Analysis
  • Full System Development Life Cycle including project scoping, solution design, development, inter-system integration, full factory testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • System Support, Incident Management and Problem Solving

Understand business processes relating to Order Management, Planning and Scheduling, Production, Stock Management, Costing, Financial and Logistical systems for a manufacturing environment (Manufacturing Execution systems).

  • Experience in supporting and a working knowledge of the above environments.
  • Understanding the essentials of system integration and inter-system communication.
  • Exposure to Agile system development and Project management processes.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) related to systems and processes.
  • Ability to understand a business process from a workflow diagram and to conceptualize it as an automated solution.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical IT documents such as flow charts, database design documents and functional/technical specifications.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Exposure to project management responsibilities such as work estimation and planning of tasks
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office range of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Visio) is required.
  • Exposure / experience in improvising and modernizing existing tool sets and systems
