Join Great British Nuclear – the Government’s delivery body for new nuclear
Great British Nuclear (GBN) has been launched as part of the government’s Powering Up Britain Plan, it is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
GBN will deliver the government’s long-term nuclear programme and support the government’s ambition to deliver up to 24GW of nuclear power in the UK by 2050.
To deliver this ambitious programme of works, GBN’s inaugural Chair, Simon Bowen, and Chief Executive, Gwen Parry-Jones OBE, are building a staffing team of equally experienced industry professionals and public servants and are currently seeking to appoint the organisation’s first Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Commercial Function play a vital role in supporting programme delivery, overseeing commercial strategy, procurement and selection of technology, sites, raw materials and other supplies. The CCO will be responsible for managing all aspects of commercial activity on behalf of GBN, overseeing the development and execution of commercial strategy and setting professional standards. It works closely with GBN’s market led team, within the Strategy & Performance Function, to enable market led opportunities to expand the UK’s nuclear capacity.
GBN are interested in hearing from candidates with outstanding commercial leadership credentials developed in large-scale, complex, environments in the public and/or private sector with an excellent track record of developing and executing commercial strategy and managing highly complex supply chains.
Given the senior nature of the role, it is also essential for the role holder posses the ability to engage effectively in high-level interactions and provide the right level of constructive challenge, advice and fresh thinking.
