Criminal Justice Resilience Worker
Interviews for this position will take place in January 2025.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. We provide a range of services, including Domestic Abuse support, Modern Slavery assistance, Mental Health & Complex Needs care, and Criminal Justice. The service you will work in….
Approved Premises (APs) work with high-risk offenders, providing a vital element in public protection arrangements. APs offer a level of contact, support and supervision within the community that is unique within the Criminal Justice System. This is an opportunity to be part of a dedicated, enthusiastic staff team, playing a key role in pro-social modelling, rehabilitation and community reintegration for those ready to make positive choices. Working closely with Offender Managers and community services, we provide a steppingstone from prison into the community.
The residents we work with come from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances, but all have been released from prison on Licence, effectively serving the final part of their sentence in the community.
Referrals are received through a central referral system operated by London division of the National Probation Service. Residents are seen on a daily basis and staff become involved in the resident's life to a very high degree: giving advice and offering support whilst exercising control and supervision, all the time liaising with the rest of the probation service and a wide range of agencies. In particular, this involves monitoring and encouraging, guiding, advising and supervising residents, all the time ensuring that public protection is at the very core of all work carried out.
Following protocols, encouraging compliance and taking enforcement action as necessary, in particular around drug and alcohol testing requirements and curfews
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Experience of working with vulnerable adults, ideally those with experience of the Criminal Justice System
The ability to engage and communicate effectively with others to provide a flexible and responsive approach
Due to the nature of the role, this post is open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).
Our commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
We are committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce and value the skills, abilities, talent and experiences, different people and communities bring to our organisation.
We are a disability confident employer
Hestia is proud to be a disability confident employer, dedicated to the employment and career development of individuals with disabilities. We offer a guaranteed interview scheme for all applicants with disabilities who meet the minimum criteria for the role they have applied for. We encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible to ensure their application is considered.
