Job Opportunity: Operations Director at International Freight Forwarder

Willis Global has been assigned by our client, a rapidly expanding International Freight Forwarder, to support with the recruitment for an Operations Director to be based at offices in the London Heathrow area.

On Offer:

  • Position: Operations Director
  • Reporting to: CEO
  • Salary Range: £90K-£130K (depending on experience)
  • Additional Benefits: Bonus, Car Allowance, Company Pension
  • Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:30-17:30 (with occasional after-hours availability)

Main Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the CEO, the Operations Director will manage and oversee operations in all departments including AIR/SEA/ROAD/CUSTOMS/WAREHOUSE (approximately 70 staff). The role involves implementing strategies to drive business growth and increase profit.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients, ocean carriers, airlines, hauliers, and other key suppliers.
  • Manage operational processes, budgetary planning, and full P&L accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards and KPIs.
  • Create positive customer experiences and actively manage procurement, bidding, and quoting to customers.
  • Handle claims and insurance related matters.

Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the Freight Forwarding industry.
  • Proven managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of Cargowise is advantageous.
  • Strong commercial capabilities and leadership skills.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, negotiate effectively, solve problems, and analyze situations.
  • Proficiency in IT skills and MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to multitask effectively.
  • Reside in close proximity to London Heathrow.
