We are looking for an experienced, applied psychologist to join us at our North Tees, adult mental health, community teams at a time of community transformation. The post would suit a compassionate, enthusiastic Psychologist, who is looking to develop their professional leadership skills in day-to-day leadership and governance of a psychological therapy resource. To support this, we use the leadership profiles for each psychology band, you will find these attached to the advert. Within this role, you will work closely with and be well supported by the Psychological Professional lead.

The post holder will work across the treatment and intervention team and the community hubs within north tees delivering effective, safe, and compassionate care. As a service, we are keen to support and invest in the ongoing development of our Psychologists through CPD opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working psychologically with people who experience severe mental health problems and competencies in an evidence based psychological therapy. They will contribute to the collective clinical leadership of the service. They will be responsible for the provision of specialist psychological assessment and formulation, and the delivery of evidence based psychological therapy and clinical supervision. The post holder will contribute to service development and improvement within the locality and the professional leadership of psychological professions.

Applicants will be required to have post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS and be registered in as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC. Significant experience and competencies in delivering and supervising evidence based psychological intervention is also essential.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be professional lead for psychology professionals. Clinical supervision will also be a key part of the role. The post holder will take a lead on developing formulations with clients and their families. Further to this, this job will involve the organisation of psychological resources to support the development of psychologically informed care plans. The delivery of psychological therapy is also a component of the role. Collective leadership is established within the teams and as part of this the post holder will have leadership responsibilities within the services.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Trained in care co-ordination
  • Registration with BPS
Experience
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care co-ordinator and leader of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Liaison and joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
  • Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.
