The Role: Grader and Pattern Cutter (Gerber)

SRVC studio are recruiting for an experienced Gerber Grader and Gerber Pattern Cutter to join a fast growing team. Handling patterns across the whole womenswear collection including knit and woven styles, the role will be production focussed with opportunities to work on development for new season styles.

Responsibilities include -

  • Manage the process of grading each season and preparing patterns for production
  • Support the pattern cutting team working on new season development styles in busy periods
  • Working closely with our Production and Pattern cutting team to resolve any pattern related production issues.
  • Undertake necessary final pattern amendments before sealing the pattern to be graded. Check and fix graded patterns before sending out to our manufactures
  • Ensure all sealed patterns are produced and finalised to the required fit and measurements
  • Consistency of sizing across all product categories
  • Complete and approve grade charts for production.
  • Review our current grading process and make necessary changes.
  • Ensuring all patterns are graded in a timely manner for production to start and be completed on time.
  • Attending production fit meetings, altering digital patterns accordingly and following them through to production stage
  • Organising and updating archive of all digital patterns
  • Checking and amending detailed pattern spec sheets
  • Closely following the production critical paths to ensure deadlines are met.

The Ideal Applicant -

  • Gerber trained with minimum 8+ years’ experience in womenswear multi-product pattern grading, ideally from a RTW studio at luxury level.
  • Excellent understanding of fit and garment construction from a development and factory capability perspective with some complex styles
  • High level of organisation and accuracy
  • Able to offer technical advice to solve grading issues
  • Accustomed to working to tight deadlines and being able to multitask across changing priorities
  • Flexibility required at peak times to manage workload
  • Excellent understanding of detail, shape and proportion
  • Clear and efficient communicator
  • Experience creating lay plan
  • Proficiency in grading knowledge and about grading increments
