Remit:
  • As a Process and NPI Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the successful launch of business projects, working with the Manufacturing teams on implementation of lean tools.
  • The role will focus on supporting increasing site manufacturing output levels in key areas, developing lean tools in line with the Business Excellence Managers objectives, supporting the NPI process and ensuring a smooth transition between Design and SOP stages.
  • The successful candidate will be supported with good engineering qualifications, with proven experience of implementing lean principles and methodologies
Role:
  • Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes and capabilities by devising and conducting research projects in conjunction with the Technical Department
  • Conduct product and process parameter capability studies to determine process performance (Cp / Cpk)
  • Continual evaluation of processes and equipment to ensure efficiency, productivity and quality of products. Apply appropriate SPC tools to ensure on-going control of processes
  • Conduct PFMEAs as per the Process Control Matrix to determine controls to be applied that deliver quality requirements and prevent product-related issues
  • Develop, document and effectively implement Control Plans as per the Process Control Matrix
  • Conduct FMEAs as per the Process Control Matrix to determine controls to be applied that deliver quality requirements and prevent process-related issues
  • Liaise with Quality Department to identify nonconformance trends (scrap, rework, etc.) and apply root cause analysis tools and techniques to address (responsibility for analysing data TBC)
  • Develop, document and effectively implement SOPs as per the Process Control Matrix
  • Provide support to production by troubleshooting in the event of equipment or process failures
  • Leading and managing the development and introduction of new products to the market, work closely with the customer on gate reviews.
  • Managing the launch of the product plus 90 days with other key stakeholders
  • Ensuring a smooth transition between design phase into SOP and Run @ Rate activities if applicable to the project.
  • Ensure the project has a safe launch process to protect the customer.
  • Stopping the project when it requires further work to achieve the expected quality levels
  • Ensuring that all quality documentation has been completed and signed off by the customer (PPAP/ Run @Rate/ gate reviews)
  • Development of close working relationships with the site management team to achieve a successful launch.
Experience Requirements:
  • Good engineering qualifications, ideally HNC qualified minimum within an Engineering discipline
  • Good knowledge of APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans (Core Tools)
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing Lean principles and methodologies
  • In depth knowledge of some of the following Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Taguchi, Bottle neck analysis, Gemba, Kanban, JIT, OEE, PDCA, Poka-Yoke, SMED or Root cause analysis.
  • Cost analysis knowledge
  • Budgeting skills
  • Experience in change management projects
  • Capable of leading a diverse team of key stakeholders
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Process thinker with exceptional communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence at all levels.
  • Practical hands-on approach to Lean implementation
