Thatcham Berkshire, United Kingdom Phoenix Learning & Care Group Full time

Job Title: Specialist Speech and Language Therapist Job Location: The Grange School, Thatcham, RG19
Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time Only

Imagine beginning your day at our Ofsted Outstanding School, surrounded by passionate Team Members and joyful pupils, all within a beautiful, inspiring environment that fosters creativity and purpose. You’ll be part of a skilled and dedicated integrated therapy team, working collaboratively to support children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You’ll start each morning with a briefing, sharing updates and celebrating the incredible progress of the children and young people we support. From there, you might deliver a 1:1 therapy session, lead an engaging group activity, or join classroom sessions to offer seamless therapeutic support. Every moment is an opportunity to help a child feel seen, understood, and valued.

When you’re not directly supporting pupils, you’ll play a key role in equipping education Team Members with the skills to better support their pupils. You’ll partner with our onsite Creative Arts Therapist to develop therapeutic approaches and attend multidisciplinary meetings with parents, Teachers, and external partners to ensure every child receives the tailored care they need. We’ll support your professional growth with clinical supervision, mentorship, and dedicated time to refine your skills, all within a supportive and nurturing environment.

The Grange School is more than a workplace, it’s a community, where your skills will transform young lives while you thrive in a role that values your expertise and passion.

A day in the life of a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will involve:
You’ll work with a small caseload of pupils who will have varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, Learning disabilities and Autism. Taking an active role in the admissions process for new pupils, including helping to write pen portraits.
Working with the wider team to offer the best support to our pupils, including our onsite creative art therapists, teachers, and teaching assistants, and taking part in Multidisciplinary team meetings. This work may include supervisions, training, or taking part in projects related to the work we do.
Whilst doing all your great work with the pupils, we’ll need you to keep their records up to date and carry out all the administrative tasks you’d expect to come with this role. Don’t worry though, during the school holidays you can work from home so that you have the space to do this without it impacting the time you spend with the pupils.

To be a successful Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll need:
A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, along with HCPC Registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language.
Great experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist.
The desire and confidence to run supervisions and offer training and support to other speech and language therapists.
Good IT skills – We’ll train you on how to use our systems, but it would help if you had a working understanding of using Microsoft packages like Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
A full driving licence. If you have experience working within the NHS, the best way for us to describe the level of experience needed for this role would be to consider it a “Band 6” position.

Holidays – You’ll get 28 days annual leave, including public holidays. You’ll also get an extra day off on your birthday
Pension scheme – Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
Learning & Development Opportunities – We provide comprehensive learning opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
Discounts – You’ll have access to brilliant discounts through the Blue Light Card and our own employee benefits platform.
Wellbeing Support – Your wellbeing is always our priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support. Cycle2Work -The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
DBS – As this role required you to have an enhanced DBS carried out, we will cover this cost.
After 12 months service - You’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme which covers a wide range of medical, health and wellbeing expenses (Including immediate access to a GP). You’ll get life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary.

Please note that as part of our safer recruitment processes, successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check, and online and social media checks, and reference validation.

We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination.
