The Role:

  • Assist in the strategic design and implementation of core infrastructure to ensure high availability and create and manage service improvement plans.
  • Provide 3rd level IT support to respond and resolve incidents escalated to the team in a timely manner.
  • As part of our infrastructure delivery, we support the planning, design, development and delivery of new services and improvements to existing services.
  • Ownership of systems used for monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and security patching.
  • Ensuring compatibility and interoperability of computer systems.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies to improve implementation decisions.
  • Conduct research on hardware and software products, justify recommendations, and support purchasing and service improvement activities.
  • Actively assist in the design and implementation of long-term strategic objectives and short-term tactical plans for the management and maintenance of enterprise systems and software.
  • Develop, document, communicate, and enforce policies and procedures to standardize systems and software as appropriate.
  • Use training materials to demonstrate personal responsibility for your own development and identify ways for continuous improvement.
  • Resolve issues escalated from the Service Desk and other support teams to the Infrastructure Operations team within the agreed schedule.
  • Manage, build, support, and maintain all server components in your environment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project management teams on major projects and improvements within the infrastructure delivery team.
  • Leverage existing knowledge base tools to promote and contribute to a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory and ideally Exchange and/or SQL Server.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure
  • Some Azure experience would be beneficial.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 services.
  • Previous experience working with a variety of technology stacks for compute, storage, virtualisation, and network products ideally consisting of VMware, Cisco UCS, HP Nimble, Pure, and others.
  • Proven experience of backup/restore packages.
