SLB Cambridge Research is a distinctive marquee-like structure dominating the High Cross site on the western outskirts of Cambridge, England. This spectacular building was completed in 1985 and the smaller second phase was opened in 1992. It has recently been classified as a Grade II listed building. of laboratory space and offices for more than 100 scientists, technicians and domain experts.


To accelerate SLB’s growth in the Energy Transition technology space, we are seeking a driven and creative scientist to work in low temperature electrolysis. Passion for science, teamwork and the desire to succeed are the core of our programme on Electrochemical Technologies. Research and development of novel ion exchange membranes for electrochemical water splitting.
Implementation of advanced tools for characterising membrane ion conductivity measurements, crossover studies and chemical, thermal and mechanical stability investigation.
Evaluate strategies for improving chemical, thermal and mechanical stability in the extreme pH environments
Maintain current knowledge of relevant electrochemical energy devices, polymer science, scientific literature and technology developments.
Engage and collaborate with SLB technical community.
Publish scientific papers, write patent applications, and attend conferences.


PhD in a physical science (e.g. Chemistry, polymer chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field)
