Role Description

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for customer IT infrastructure build, deployment and maintenance, ensuring the IT infrastructure of the customer provides efficient business support. This role will be required to deliver on site professional service solutions as defined in Statements of Work as well as provide technical escalation support to customers as required.

Related responsibilities typically include the following:

  • Completion of configurations - Installs, configures and maintains approved hardware and software components successfully and in accordance with SOW ’ s. Areas covered include, firmware updates, configurations, stacking, applying IP addresses, operating system installs, cabling and data centre fixes. Knowledge of some of the vendors listed would be advantageous: Fujitsu, HPE, Super Micro, Cisco, Watchguard, Cumulus switches, VMware and Microsoft
  • Building and maintaining customer relationships
  • Successful project delivery
  • Produces documentation
  • Provision of mentoring and training to junior staff members
  • The person will need a valid driver's license (to drive to sites when needed, we do have a pool car that can be used) and should live within a commutable distance of the UK office so they are able to spend time doing the configs and builds. In addition, the role involves international travel, including the United States so flexibility and willingness to be away from home will be required.

What WE require from YOU:

  • Any Azure infrastructure experience would be advantageous along with VM’s, SQL and Networks. We are looking for an individual to join us on a journey of building out our Azure standards to incorporate infra as code ( IaC ) , so we’re looking for someone who is hungry to learn new skills in that area
  • VMware is a must. You don’t have to be an expert, but someone who knows what a VSAN is, what ESX does, how to build it, use host profiles and build VM templates
  • Networking experience and understanding is required
  • Backup experience eg : Veeam
