We are looking to recruit a number of permanent CustomerService Assistant positions.The purpose of a Customer ServiceAssistant is to provide a customer focused presence within the stationon a day to day basis, to deliver a first class and safe stationenvironment for train operating companies, passengers and retailers.

These positions are entry level and a great opportunity toexperience life at Network Rail High Speed. Once you've mastered therole of a Customer Service Assistant and feel like it is time to moveon, there are opportunities to progress your career – with internalvacancies being posted on a regular basis.

About therole (External)

The role

Thekey responsibilities of a Customer Service Assistant are to:

·Act as a highly visible point of contact for station users andprovide excellent customer service to all – including visitors,contractors, retailers, train operating companies and customerstravelling throughout the station

·Undertake regular stationchecks – including on contractor compliance, security, safety andequipment – in accordance with relevant company standards andprocedures, plus complete the relevant paperwork for audit purposes

·Respond to and record emergencies and incidents involvingthe general public and industry partners as required

·Provide a point of contact for the reporting of faults within thestation – maintaining appropriate records, reviewing and closingactions as required

·Actively assist and provide informationto customers travelling throughout the station

·Checkcontractors have relevant risk assessments and method statements priorto issuing a Permit to Work

·In liaison with customers,external authorities and regulators, implement plans to prevent andmanage criminal activity on the station, including discouraging andpreventing unauthorised persons from entering or remaining on thestation

·Provide a proactive role in dealing with hazards orunsafe conditions, checking that all such occurrences are reportedcorrectly

·Fulfil allocated duties as prescribed withinEmergency Plans

The person

We arelooking for candidates with:

·Good command of the Englishlanguage – both written and oral

·Experience of working in acustomer facing environment

·Confidence to deal withdifferent types of situations assertively

·Experience ofworking effectively as part of a team

·The flexibility towork a range of shift patterns – including early, late and nightshifts

Although not essential, it would be an extra plus ifyou were: 

·Educated to GCSE or equivalent in English andMaths
