Job Description:

The Legacy Nurse/AHP Practice Assessor rolewill be an experienced RMN nurse and allied health professional (AHP) in thelater stages of their career. They will be providing indirect assessments ofpractice for Students currently undertaking Nurse and Allied HealthProfessional training programmes on placement with Devon Partnership Trust. They will be imparting their knowledge,skills and experience and supporting them in the early stages of their career,together with supporting more experienced nurses and occupational therapist ina range of ways. They will need to demonstrate empathy and patience, bepassionate about the profession and be able to provide pastoral support toothers. We can all reflect on theimportance of role models in our own careers and this is an opportunity to havethat kind of influence on the incoming generation as they set out on a careerin health and care.

Main duties of the job

This role will be key in supporting nurses and AlliedHealth Professionals in training and establish a positive work life balance topromote their wellbeing and job satisfaction. Legacy Practice Assessors willneed to be confident in building relationships and collaborating withothers. They will be providing coachingand mentoring and will be given any necessary training to develop or enhance theseskills.

Legacy Nurse/AHP Practice Assessors may work acrossa range of specialisms or environments across the health and social carespectrum using coaching and mentoring models. They will support practice placements for learners, andliaise with other practice education support staff to ensure consistency ofsupport across the settings.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Hold a Registered Mental Health Nurse Professional or Allied health professional qualification with current registration and without restriction.
  • Educated to degree level, plus post graduate diploma or equivalent in a specific field, experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Completed or willing to complete training as Practice supervisor and Practice assessor/Practice educator
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Coaching experience
  • Coaching qualification e.g. ILM Level 5 or 7
  • Mental Health first aid training
Experience
  • Ability to engender trust and confidence and demonstrate integrity in the provision of advice and support
  • Demonstrates the values and role models for others
  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of health services.
