The Senior Civil Engineer job itself:
  1. Develop and manage the creation of complex technical designs
  2. Project manage various schemes across a diverse range of clients

More specifically:

  1. Work within a Civil Engineering design team responsible for the design of drainage systems, highway layouts, and S278/S38 schemes
  2. Work in a design office, with regular exposure to developers, architects, and local authorities
  3. Undertake and manage team resource for design work for:
  • Drainage systems in accordance with Sewers for Adoption, building regulations, and the SuDS Manual
  • On and off-site highway features, in accordance with the appropriate standards and codes e.g. Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and Manual for Streets
  • Be responsible for writing fee proposals
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Site 3D or equivalent 3D software
  • Have knowledge of and willing to learn other engineering software
  • Reviewing of junior team members reports, design and drawing work
  • Attend client meetings and site visits
  • Co-operate with the Quality Management System (QMS) through undertaking administrative activities
  • Mentoring and training of junior staff
  • Support our regional offices and other departments through knowledge sharing

You will have

To be successful as a Senior Civil Engineer, you will have a healthy mix of the following:

  • Preferred: Incorporated Engineer (IEng) [or working towards] with the Institution of Civil Engineers
  • A degree or HND in Civil Engineering
  • 5+ years’ consultancy experience
  • Experience working with local authorities, developers, and architects on civil engineering aspects of residential, commercial, and retirement/care schemes
  • Varied experience working on schemes through the planning process; from pre-app through to condition discharge
  • Civil engineering project management experience including projects combining drainage, external works, and highways elements
