SP Energy Networks are undertaking multiple projects simultaneously as we overhaul our network to enhance resilience and secure electricity supply to support our communities' economic growth.nThe role involves undertaking civil and structural engineering design of new substations and assessing existing assets on our 132kV network. The role is based at SPEN Prenton offices, Wirral and visiting sites across SP Manweb. Flexible working options available.

Project activities for role include, but are not limited to, the following:nStructural and civil engineering assessment of existing assetsnPrepare design calculations at project tender and detailed design stagesnUndertake analysis and design using a range of software packages including STAAD, TEDDSnProvide assistance at project feasibility and construction stagesnLiaise with other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solutionnReview designs and drawings undertaken by othersnEnsure that quality and consistency of technical output is maintainednPrepare high quality design reports, technical specifications and structural surveys

Qualifications, knowledge and experience required:nBachelors or Masters Degree in Structural or Civil EngineeringnClose to or Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)nA good knowledge of structural and civil engineering design principles and material propertiesnAn understanding of construction methods with varied experience in all the common forms of constructionnExperience in the use of Eurocodes and British StandardsnExperience in the use of STAAD and TEDDSnGreat attention to detail and pride in design qualitynExperience of structural analysis design and softwaren7 year experience or more preferrednFull clean driving licensenExperience working in electrical industry is desirable although not essential
