Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Merchandiser to join our Buying team, on our DIY category. In this role, you will be working alongside the Buyer with the day-to-day running of a busy department.

The role is based full time at our Support Centre in Speke, Liverpool L24.

The Key Accountabilities in the role are:

  • Working to tight restrictions to ensure stock is maintained throughout the year at the correct levels
  • Assisting with the creation of weekly core stock orders, which is the main task of the departments, managing these orders into the business efficiently
  • Driving Performance for key trading periods i.e. new product range launches, seasonal peaks, promotional events etc.
  • Analysing data from the previous year & current trends to make the right decisions, identifying “gaps“ in current market
  • Cultivating close working relationships with key suppliers to maximise sales/profit throughout the range
  • Maintain and update WSSI’s & Line cards on a daily basis
  • Working to calendars, which involves forecasting crucial lines for long periods
  • Being proficient in the use of Excel where the business uses heavily formulated worksheets to manipulate reports into the desired information required

The ideal candidate will have the following experience/skills:

  • Already an experienced Merchandiser or a strong Junior Merch who is ready to step up
  • Results orientated with a track record of achieving targets & delivering growth
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Able to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, methodical with numbers
  • Able to utilise data to fully understand customer behaviour and habits
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
