Job Title: Senior Developer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of expertise in both application development, operational automation and business analysis skills.

This individual will be responsible for autonomously leading projects, understanding business requirements, and translating them into effective solutions across the firm’s applications and operations (e.g. research, middle/back office).

The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, the ability to work autonomously, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Project Leadership: Independently lead both application development and operational automation projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines and quality standards.
  • Business Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyse business requirements, understanding both technical and non-technical aspects to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Solution Design: Design innovative and scalable solutions that address complex business challenges, leveraging both technical expertise and business analysis insights.
  • Application Development: Develop high-quality, clean, and maintainable code in our front end application, currently in Python, ensuring efficient implementation of business requirements.
  • Operational Automation: Collaborate with team leaders to help design, code and implement solutions which provide improvement or efficiencies to current operational processes.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing and debugging of code to ensure reliability, performance, and user satisfaction.
  • Documentation: Document architecture, design decisions, and development processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and future maintenance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and technical innovations.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including team leaders and end-users, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications:

· A degree in computer science, engineering, or related field

· 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within the investment management industry.

· Proficient in programming languages, especially Python.

· Solid knowledge of SQL, Git/GitHub

· Strong business analysis skills with experience in gathering, analysing, and documenting business requirements.

· Experience working autonomously and leading development projects from concept to delivery.

· Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.

· Knowledge of SQL database management systems.

· Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

· Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and proactive approach to teamwork.

· Experience working with financial markets is desirable.

· A keen interest in corporate sustainability and the role of investment management in driving the transition to a green economy
