Employee Relations Advisor - (2 year Fixed Term Appointment)

UKAEAs pay arrangements and grading structure are currently under review as part of a transformation project and proposed multi-year pay deal. This will enable us to lead the delivery of sustainable fusion energy and maximise the scientific and economic benefit. This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
As an Employee Relations Advisor, you will work as part of the Policy and Employee Relations Team who are responsible for UKAEAs employment policy framework, the Employee Relations strategy and for providing advice and guidance on all people-related matters and ensuring a consistent case management approach.
The team are the subject matter experts on employee relations and policy. You'll be responsible, along with the ER Specialist, for delivering an ER service in all areas across the employee lifecycle, such as disciplinary, grievance, probation, performance, long term sick leave etc. ensuring that ER support and advice is delivered in line with policy, best practice and legislative requirements to mitigate risk and escalation.
Lead on employee relations issues, ensuring that cases are well managed, handled swiftly and effectively and in line with organisational policy and legal requirements, including advising on risks and proposing options to mitigate them. Provide professional expert advice and support to employees and managers on the application and interpretation of people processes and procedures, ensuring a fair and equitable approach. This requires having a deep understanding of policies, processes, employment law and best practice.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Employee Relations team to review, develop, and update HR policies and procedures, ensuring they align with current legislation and business needs.
- Write, develop and deliver bite-size training and coaching sessions on topics relating to people management and employee relations best practice, employment law, and HR policies to ensure consistent application across the organisation.
Competent in the use of Excel/reporting from management systems
- Knowledge and experience of HR IT systems, such as recruitment/candidate tracking system, helpdesk/service management system, SharePoint, enterprise resource planning system (i.e., Agresso/Unit 4)
