The Sussex route, which includes the Brighton Main Line and its branch lines, is among the busiest and most congested in the country, carrying just under 4,000 scheduled passenger and freight services each day.

Principally a commuter route to and from London, the route is critical to the regional and national economy, transporting high volumes of travellers from the south coast to the capital, as well as Gatwick Airport, the country's second busiest international airport and a key gateway to the United Kingdom.

Brief Description
Manage and administer the Signal & Telecoms Incident Management process for delivery units. About the role (External)

Key Accountabilities:

1. Manage and administer the process to deal with safety related failures on behalf of Signal & Telecoms Maintenance Engineers and Telecoms Maintenance Engineers.

2. Check that all signalling safety related failures are fully investigated and that safety related records are updated correctly and promptly closed.

3. Review all S&TINCS files, complete data and close review actions. Sign off S&TINCS files at an agreed level

4. Review signalling failure and incident systems checking that failures are reported, classified and recorded in accordance with the requirements of Railway Group and Network Rail standards.

5. Undertake audit of SINCS and FMS data entry. Make recommendations to address anomalies.

6. Undertake audits of the Signal & Telecoms Maintenance Engineers, Telecoms Maintenance Engineers and Section Managers to demonstrate that wrong side failures are investigated thoroughly and that the required records are maintained.

7. Assist in monitoring asset performance and reliability.

8. Collate Key Performance Measure information and provide management reports as required.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Essential

• Experience in maintenance management, processes and techniques

• Knowledge of safety and compliance management processes

• Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures

• Knowledge of operational railway environment

• Failure/incident management and rectification techniques

• Knowledge of other functional disciplines

• Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills

Desirable

• Incorporated Engineer

• Membership of professional body
