Luminary is looking for a Contract Electronics Engineer with exceptional design skills to design the electronics for an exciting new product.

We’re looking for a contract electronics engineer who is well-versed in digital and analogue electronics, and excited about people learning music to join the Engineering team at Luminary.

As a Contract Electronics Engineer at Luminary, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and key stakeholders within the business, and report directly to the Director of Hardware Engineering. You will be responsible for schematic and layout design for an exciting new product being developed for launch later this year. We have regular standups, communicate a lot, support each other, value each other’s opinions, and constantly strive to improve our working environment collaboratively.

What you’ll do:
  • Design the electronics schematics and PCB layout in Altium for a new product moving from design concept to production.
  • Collaborate with other members of the hardware team including Firmware, Mechanical engineers, and industrial designers. This may require you to attend our London office, but remote working is also supported.
  • Attend and contribute to regular project and design review meetings.
  • Perform design testing and validation.
  • Work with contract manufacturers to ensure your designs are manufacturable and testable.
What you’ll need:
  • A minimum of 10 years in electronic hardware and design.
  • Experience with power supply management ( including USB-C PD), USB High Speed, and designing with Microcontrollers, transistors, MOSFETS and Op Amps.
  • In-depth knowledge of PCB design and layout using Altium, including designing for manufacture and test.
  • Experience in optimising designs for low cost while maintaining high quality.
  • Experience of designing for international regulatory requirements - EMC, ESD and Safety standards.
  • An inquisitive mind and demonstrable examples of implementing proactive solutions
  • Superb and demonstrable time-management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Knowledge of MIDI and other musical data exchange protocols .
  • A passion for music, technology and/or startups.
  • Experience working at a startup company.
