Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Then this is the job for you Our client is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Malvern and make a significant difference in how they manufacture their high-tech product range.

What are your responsibilities:
  1. Management of multiple manufacturing-related projects and investigations of varying length and complexity.
  2. Resolve engineering challenges to production targets using structured problem-solving tools like A3PS, 8D, and DMAIC.
  3. Maintain and control manufacturing processes using lean tools including Standard Operating Procedures, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Control Plans, Value Stream Maps, Kanban, and Process Failure Mode Effect Analyses (PFMEAs).
  4. Drive, validate, and implement changes to product design with a focus on quality and manufacturability to ensure that both new and existing products meet the required specifications.
  5. Improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in your technology through targeted projects and communicate project progress to key stakeholders in production and the wider business.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the business to enhance safety, quality, and delivery of market-leading products.
  7. Support other operational teams to ensure the availability of parts needed to manufacture products to customer standards.
  8. Liaise with suppliers and our supplier quality team to resolve quality or delivery issues and support supplier validation and reallocation processes.
  9. Own and develop cell and line layout and workstation design to optimize manufacturing processes.
  10. Support M&A activities through process transfer and resource management.
  11. Resource management and budgeting.
What do you need to be successful in this role?

A hands-on approach to solving challenging engineering/manufacturing problems. Excellent communication and presentation skills; the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. Flexibility is essential in effectively managing both your own time and workload, as well as the workload of others, to strike a balance between promptly resolving immediate production issues and pursuing long-term improvement opportunities. A collaborative mindset to be able to contribute to and work together with different teams across the business. Ideally Engineering or Manufacturing degree at a 2:1 or better 5 years plus experience in a similar role. An experienced LEAN practitioner with a full six sigma toolset. Good understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles. An enthusiasm for manufacturing processes.

Great to have:

  • Experience in a high-technology manufacturing or assembly business.
  • A full UK driving license to facilitate supplier visits.
  • A vision for modern manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to analyze mechanical/electronic designs to suggest improvements to performance or manufacturability.
  • Ability to gather and interpret information from multiple database sources, analyze data, and present conclusions.
  • SAP or similar ERP system experience.
  • PLM and ECN system experience.
  • 3D Mechanical CAD or PCB design abilities.
  • Experience in manufacturing transfer.
  • Driven to deliver results for customers and develop yourself.
  • Quality-informed decision-making skills.
Your work environment

Flexitime of 37.5 hours per week with core hours 10.00am - 12.00pm and 2.00pm - 3.00pm. Hybrid working opportunities although predominantly based on our Malvern site to support our production team.
