Clinical Teaching Fellow in Undergraduate Medical Education

The post is a one-year fixed term contract. It will be based at the Great Western Hospital Swindon (GWH) This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a trainee with an interest in education. The post will be 50% in Cardiology and Post Graduate Medical Education 50%. The post will also include the opportunity to be involved in the exciting field of simulation.
This post would typically suit a ST1 - ST4 level doctor at start of appointment, such as those wishing to undertake further training in medical education as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their Specialist training programme

To assist the Director Medical Education and relevant clinical specialty in their educational strategy to design, develop, deliver & evaluate Postgraduate training programmes which encompass essential clinical skills, simulation training, quality improvement work and trainee support.

Provision of clinical education for postgraduate clinical trainees including simulation (where relevant) and clinical skills for trainees.
# To take part in on-going research projects or undertake original work under supervision with the aim of producing peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings in relation to speciality.
# Bedside and classroom teaching of postgraduate trainees in varies specialties.
# Coordination of post graduate trainees teaching opportunities
# Supporting Clinical Skills Teaching and ward-based assessment to post graduate trainees.
# Evaluation of teaching in conjunction with the relevant administrator.
# Undertaking any training that is identified as necessary for the candidate to teach effectively.
# Work clinically as part of the team within Cardiology.
oDemonstrable experience within Cardiology.
oExperience of teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
oAbility to maximise safety and minimise risk. oTo have an interest in supporting doctors in training, and medical education
oAbility to design and deliver bedside teaching and simulation.
