Infrastructure Engineer (Project / BAU)

Saffron Walden- Hybrid

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing technology solution provider. You will be responsible for maintaining and optimising their IT infrastructure solutions provided to clients including technical support and infrastructure-related projects.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field/ proven experience in IT infrastructure management.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, and networking technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services.
  • Proficiency in VMware vSphere and other virtualization technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience in pre-sales activities and client-facing roles.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in solution architecture and design.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support:

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server, network, and cloud-related problems.
  • Manage and prioritize support tickets effectively.
  • Maintain and update IT documentation and procedures.
  • Conduct regular system health checks and performance audits.
  • Manage and optimize storage solutions.

Server Management:

  • Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers.
  • Implement server patching, upgrades, and security measures.
  • Monitor server performance and capacity, making recommendations for improvements.

Networking:

  • Manage and optimize network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Configure and maintain VPNs, LANs, and WANs.
  • Implement network security protocols and best practices.

Microsoft Cloud Technologies:

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 suite, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Manage Azure cloud services and infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain hybrid cloud solutions.

Virtualization:

  • Manage VMware vSphere environment.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual environments.
  • Project Support:
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of infrastructure projects.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve IT infrastructure.
  • Assist in capacity planning and budgeting for infrastructure upgrades.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams on cross-functional projects.

Pre-Sales Support:

  • Conduct technical discovery sessions with potential clients to understand their infrastructure needs.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations of infrastructure solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and solution designs.
  • Provide technical expertise during client meetings and calls.
  • Assist in estimating project scope, timelines, and resource requirements for potential engagements.
