Oxford City Council’s Sustainability Team accelerates city-wide sustainability, particularly carbon emissions reductions and air quality improvements, by working with and for our partners across the city council and in and around the City of Oxford.
This role will principally manage the development and delivery of innovative the 'FutureFit Area Based Insetting' (FABI) project.

Lack of finance in particular can stall action.

FABI is a way for large local organisations to offset their carbon emissions by supporting low carbon projects within their local area – in this case, helping to fund energy efficiency improvements for organisations that will help them cut carbon emissions and save money.

While the priority should remain on avoiding and reducing emissions, ABI stimulates greater local investment in carbon-saving projects and the ability to quantify and report on the associated carbon impacts.

This role will manage the development and delivery of the FABI initiative. You will plan, manage and control the delivery of this work, support effective and responsible governance of the insetting scheme, and providing advice to senior managers and Councillors. To project manage multi-partner and innovative carbon reduction projects to accelerate carbon emissions reductions in the city.
Work collaboratively internally and externally and effectively manage risk.
Lead and manage the Net Zero Transition Project Officer to ensure high performance in driving forward reduction of barriers and accelerating take up of retrofit through collaborative partnership working.
Responsible for playing a key role in the development of funding bids, income generation and horizon scanning for opportunities that further the Council’s Net Zero objectives.
Responsible for developing and maintaining working relationships with strategically important external partnerships – such as community groups, the private sector, County Council, and distribution network operators - as well as effective internal working relationships - to facilitate the delivery of Net Zero.
