Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a Secondary School in Havering with their search for a Head of History for a September start. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and modern school which prides their selves offering learning experienceS that prepares students for life in the 21st century. In addition, this role offers a great opportunity to lead an exciting department, with an emphasis placed upon you supporting your own development as well as the pedagogy of others.
This 11-16 mixed comprehensive, based in Havering, are rated 'good' by Ofsted and behaviour and academic achievement have improved dramatically over the past 10 years after a new Senior Leadership Team arrived at the school. Boasting a capacity of 700, the school are looking to grow in the coming years with exciting plans to develop the school's infrastructure. The History department is filled with passionate teachers, who are in the midst of developing the most engaging curriculum that this school have taught. They are now looking for a new Head of Department to help guide this process.
The role of Head of History:
You will have full responsibility for curriculum design, implementation and impact
Mentoring of trainees (time built into timetable)
Teaching History to Key Stage 4
Leading 2 others within the department
In September there will be 2 year 11 and 3 year 10 groups studying History
Weekly sessions with Line Managers to support you in your role.
All departments have a meeting timetabled in the working day for curriculum development time.
Working at an Ofsted 'Good' School.
