Role Overview: As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the seamless execution of our projects. Reporting to an Engineering Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch, you’ll play a pivotal role in reviewing and accepting engineering queries related to HVAC systems across the CI/BOP and Nuclear buildings. You’ll collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, from site contractors to design teams, ensuring that every aspect of HVAC design and installation meets our high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

What You’ll Do:

  • Innovate and Solve: Respond swiftly to queries, non-conformances, change requests, and exemption requests from the MEH Contractor, with support from site experts when needed.
  • Ensure Compliance: Provide oversight to guarantee that all work meets Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements.
  • Drive Excellence: Challenge and refine design decisions to ensure alignment with our project strategy.
  • Collaborate and Coordinate: Work closely with external organizations to mobilize the support needed to resolve issues and close open points.
  • Mitigate Risk: Assess and address technical risks to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Report and Advise: Provide clear and proactive reporting to the Engineering Lead, ensuring all issues are escalated appropriately.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Educational Background: Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience: Solid experience in HVAC system design, installation, and/or commissioning, particularly within the nuclear industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of multidisciplinary technical aspects, construction, and installation practices.
  • Regulatory Know-How: Familiarity with Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders in a site environment.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to work independently, proactively manage issues, and escalate when necessary.
