The role
With the acceleration of digital technologies, diverse procurement requirements are becoming an essential need to support and enable rapidly evolving digital business objectives. The Technology Procurement Category Manager is a key player, acting as a proactive enabler, supporting the delivery of best-in-class technology products and services with the right balance of cost control, risk mitigation and speed. Will drive best value proposition for Hays.
The Technology Procurement function at Hays is a newly established function with an ambitious road-map, which will provide an exciting challenge to any prospective candidate. This opportunity offers a frontline role to support our Technology transformation efforts and will intervene across all Technology sub-categories.
What you will need to succeed
A bachelor's degree in business or other management discipline, such as supply chain management. An advanced business degree is desired or a bachelor's degree in engineering or IT, and certification by purchasing and supply chain professional bodies, such as the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) or the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is a plus;
Excellent analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis and market research. Ability to clearly interpret findings from data;
Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
Keen understanding of contract terms, SLAs and industry unique commercial terms. Strong attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (highly proficient in Excel) and Sourcing/Procurement solutions for e-sourcing, spend analytics, contract lifecycle management (CLM), market intelligence and Procure-to-Pay (P2P).
Broad knowledge and understanding of Technology operating
Experience of relevant strategic sourcing and category strategy building experience with demonstrated ability to lead and deliver value. Previous category management experience must include a focus on Technology;
Other functional experience, particularly in IT, is highly desirable and beneficial.
Deep knowledge of the use of technology procurement tools and an interest in driving automation and innovation in procurement process.
Current knowledge of the global technology products and services market and its trends.
Experience in the development and execution of an effective technology category strategy that had a high impact in a similar capacity.
Excellent interpersonal communications and presentation skills. Ability to interact at all levels, including with senior executives;
Highly efficient, with the energy and tenacity to see work through to completion, ensuring deadlines are met at all times;
Copes well with pressure and with appropriate organisational skills to manage a diverse range of tasks. Is analytical and process-oriented;
A team player with great people skills who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships;
Presents a pragmatic, commercial and creative approach to problem solving and decision-making;
