Full time, Open ended post.HR Services is responsible for a range of people management activity and brings together four teams; Payroll & Pensions, HR Systems and Data, Employee Lifecycle and Recruitment and Resourcing.You should ideally be CIPP qualified or equivalent, be highly numerate with extensive experience managing payroll activities as part of a large, complex organisation. Additionally you should have advanced knowledge, understanding and competence using a variety of IT systems and software, including an integrated HR/Payroll Information System.This is an exciting time to join our team as we begin our journey to transform the way we deliver HR Services and Systems. The role is “hands on”, delivery focussed role and offers a great opportunity to shape the way we do things.Description of dutiesLead and ensure the monthly payroll is accurately prepared each monthResponsibility for payments to external agencies associated with employee payroll deductionsReconcile all monthly payroll control accountsMonitoring and reporting on University sickness and maternity pay schemesDeputising for HR Services Manager (Payroll & Pensions) when requiredProviding supervision and guidance to other members of the teamResolve payroll and pension queriesProvide guidance on payroll matters for employees, self-employed contractors and overseas workersProduce reports from the payroll system as requestedManage the statutory returns to HMRC including monthly RTI reportParticipate and/or lead projects to develop the integrated HR & Payroll databaseTaking a lead on all payroll and pension functionality improvements that are agreedEssential criteriaExtensive payroll management experience is essential including standard payroll activities such as attachment of earnings, SSP, SMP, pensions, manual calculations and annual returnsExperience of managing or supervising a teamComprehensive knowledge of payroll rules and regulations and their applicationExcellent communication skills needed to convey complex payroll matters to all levels of employeeExperience of working in a customer facing environment and providing good customer serviceExperience with a number of software packages including Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelExperience of producing payroll related management informationDesirable CriteriaExperience of working in an HR environment within Higher EducationCIPP qualifiedExperience of SAPAccounts experienceIf you are interested in applying for this post, please send us your CV in the first instance by clicking on the s1jobs APPLY button now.The University of Stirling recognises that a diverse workforce benefits and enriches the work, learning and research experiences of the entire campus and greater community.
